Our First Day in Beijing

Dear Friends and Family,

We are doing well.  We are counting our Blessings as last night we has a very difficult approach into the Beijing Airport due to severe weather.  We were told most flights into Beijing were diverted to other cities in China or the flights were canceled.  Our Delta Crew did a beautiful job bringing in the plane.

We had a great nights sleep and got up at 5:30 AM ate breakfast and meet our travel group - the Lantern Group made up of 10 families for orientation then off to the great wall.  It was raining when we left the hotel on our way to the Juyongguan Pass section of the great wall.  Of Course we had to make a stop at the Jade Factory then off to the great wall.  This section is very steep so we only walked to the second section.  What was really awesome was that the rain stopped just as soon as we started the climb.  Anna later told me that she prayed for the rain to stop.

Iris made a new friend named Nora.  She is one of four sisters who live in Utah. She is 10 years old.

After our Great Wall climb we went to the Closinne Factory and learned about how Closinne is designed and produced.

Then we ate lunch and back to the hotel for a rest before going out to dinner and then a visit to the Olympic Sites.

 We miss you all,

Love Marye
